Need for Speed: No Limits - Xmas 2022
Xmas vibes aplenty here. We had to make a Xmas limited event for 2022 and so added to our Hopebridge track that already existed. Our amazing Tech Tools dept added the ability to Relight the scene just in time for this. Previously once lit (and lightmap baked) a track's lighting was set in stone. This new tool addition allowed us to relight this scene, breathing new life into it with the addition of a bunch of props added.
I created these Xmas light banners that hung over the track in 3 places. These really added that city Xmas pageant feel. I also added all the light bulbs to the building surface textures to bring that warm glowing Xmas feel to life.
We added some red lights into the windows on this building's texture and a massive bow to the roof to create a huge Xmas present effect.
The addition of the mostly warm Xmas lights across this track update meant we could go quite blue with he night lighting and the two would balance out.
Giant inner lit candy canes added to the Xmas vibes.
These neon filigree inspired lights that I made were attached to the sides of some buildings. You can see the warm light spill from them baked back into the original lightmaps.
I made an icicle cave graphic that hung inside this tunnel.
This feels very warm and jolly and full of life to me. I also created those fairy light spheres on the left.
We recoloured the bridge with red and green lighting for the Xmas effect.
I also added snow tracks to the road surface texture to sell the theme.
