Need for Speed: No Limits - Hangout

One of my earlier projects I was lucky enough to get to make for NFS:NL was to revamp the old garage scene. This is the space where you drool over your car and rotate it for hours and hours as we all know we are guilty of doing in these games. :)
That being said I was asked by my very talented Art Director Jesse West to create a more comfortable Hangout space. A space where you can do up your car but also chill and feel at home. This required more vibrant colours and a graffiti wall (set behind the couches) While in these screenshots of the graffiti wall only has a bit of wall art from the game, we had a local Melbourne artist create some vibrant designs for this during a limited event.
I actually took some photo's as reference from my trusted mechanic's workshop 'CeeBee Motors' in Preston, Victoria. He's a champ! Thanks mate!

I had a fair amount of creative freedom with this but also directed & guided by Jesse West. It think it came out great and was nice to get to create the whole thing.

The Hangout scene I made for the game, I did not make the car, that was the job of the very talented car artists.

Being an older mobile game the only item in this scene that is PBR is the floor, utlising a complicated shader that uses vertex colours and alphas to create variation across the surface with real time ray traced reflections.

Car parts, car lifts and whatnot.

An outside view of the scene, I like these shots, they remind me of 90's adventure games.

The graffiti board, comfy couches and kitchenette space in one corner. This adds to the welcoming vibe the old garage didn't have.
